February Cold Storage

A good chunk of North America is under winter’s cold spell right now and we are all yearning for warmer temps or at the very least, sunny skies.

COLD STORAGE

Outside my frosty window there’s quite the sight,

red thermometer needle gives up its fight

to keep the temperature on even keel

as grey, overcast skies  give a wintry feel.

Overnight lows approach minus thirty-four,

chilly Northwest winds drop it down even more.

We look for a reason to venture outdoors,

but that would require donning woolly drawers.

Reaching out for the heat adjusting lever,

we stay indoors, fighting our cabin fever.

Perhaps, if we eat a bowl of hot porridge

We’ll find a way to survive this cold storage.

  1. Even the Oregon coast got snow… but not Eugene. We are left wishing for it. I was hoping to wake up this morning to a few inches on the ground and a bunch of white in the tree… but maybe next storm. 😕

  2. Give me your address and I will mail you some. Ha Ha. Just hoping the cold snap breaks soon. The perfect winter to me is white and about -10C. But, this winter has been up and down from +10 to – 34C with freezing rain, sleet, snow and wind. We are about 15 minutes from the airport, which was -42C last week. I just want to go outside for a long walk. Thanks for reading Lana. Allan
