September 17/18 – Part 1 – Magog – Mont Orford National Park – National does necessarily not mean Canadian!

I fell right into this trap. Our host said that we should not go to this National Park, as we would have to pay for the privilege. I wondered what he was talking about and felt we had it covered because we had our Parks Canada pass with us. We headed out and missed the turn to the park, ending up on the ski hill, which was just getting set up for the coming season.

We turned around and headed back down the road to the turn off to the park, where the light finally went on in my brain. The National in the National Parks in Quebec refers to the Nation of Quebec. We paid our $18 and grumbled as we drove through to do a few hikes. The park walks were delightful, but we are not sure we got our $18 worth. We will look for the Parks Canada sign, before visiting any National Parks on our way back. Once bitten….
